This Little Light Of Mine!

John 12:46 – I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. (NIV)

I had a fire drill the other day, so I looked at the torch that we have for evening use. I checked the battery by placing my tongue across the terminals to see if it would give me the expected level of jolt. The torch battery was not up to the required standard that I would have expected from a large torch. So this explained the lack of light activity from the bulb end! What was required was a new battery.

I have discovered that our lives can be a little like a battery. We can be charged up and ready to go, or not, as the case may be. Also, apart from nourishment, life experiences can charge up our bodies and souls both positively or negatively. The energy associated with stress, hurts, bad events, love, joy, laughter, success, and forgiveness, is stored up in our bodies and souls, just like a battery. They may even show signs of this stored experience we carry with us.

When we give Jesus all our experiences through prayer, He will accept them. He will, I believe, discharge the stored-up bad energy whilst also enabling us to keep the memories as a part of who we are. He affirms the good and encourages right action, not that we always recognize His stirrings.

Jesus heals and cleanses us from the bad to make us stronger. Our experiences may build bridges to help others and show them the Way. Jesus' truth will be there, ready to shine when our lives are called upon in an emergency.

Let us check our batteries so that the grace and love of God may be made manifest in our lives today.

1 John 1:7 – But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (NIV)

Prayer: Lord, as we come into Your presence, cleanse us from our sin today and renew Your light of life in us once more. Send us out into the world fully charged and ready to show Your light in us, to the glory of Your name. Amen.
