Revelation 22:11-12 – Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy. Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. (NIV)

Recently I observed my husband as he attempted to struggle with a jam-packed wallet filled with plastic cards. He was looking for a card of his own, with his address on it, to pass on to another.

Have you noticed of late that with every card credit or debit card one might carry, one just has to have the reward card that goes along with it? In every store when making a purchase, the question is asked, "Have you got your reward card?"

This quickly reminded me of how we can each obtain our reward from God, through the doing of His will and by doing the works of faith given to us.

We don't have to carry a special card to present in order to obtain our reward! We need only work in the way God asks — striving to become more Christ-like.

We are called to work hard to please God who sent us to fulfill His desires. We shall one day stand before the judgement seat of Christ, not with a plastic card in our hand, but with a humble heart, knowing we have done all we could — with the strength He has provided — in fighting the good fight to honour and to glorify God. Let us start now to do the works of God, assured that our rewards are not of this world.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Lord, enable us to do justice for You, so that we may one day stand before You with a contrite and humble heart, knowing we have done our best to glorify You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
