Jeremiah 15:16 – When your words showed up, I ate them — swallowed them whole. What a feast! What delight I took in being yours, O God, God-of-the-Angel-Armies! (MSG)
I know a few families that have horses. Often they are in a pasture very close to the house. I have seen these people, when they get home, run out to rub their horse. Sometimes they take an apple or carrot to feed their horse. Of course, the horse looks forward to it, whinnying when the family comes home. He is waiting anxiously for his treat of the day. Families love their horses and want to give them treats and let them know they are loved and appreciated.
God loves us and wants us to know that. He offers us food to eat as well. It can come in the form of Bible reading, attending church and listening to the messages, or small group studies and interaction. Often, His food comes in ways that we don't always recognize. There are times it could come in the form of a friend's words of wisdom to us. It could come in a beautiful sunset we see, or in birds singing or flying. It could be in the form of a baby or little children or an aged grandparent.
Are we ready and willing to eat what God offers us? Do we see the food He offers us?
Bob Cull wrote in song:
- Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus;
To reach out and touch Him and say that we love Him.
Open our ears, Lord, and help us to listen,
Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus.
Prayer: O Lord, we do love You. Open our eyes, for we do want to see You. We want to touch You. We want to hear from You. We can do these things by feeding on Your Word, in whatever way it comes to us. Help us, we pray. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
