Romans 6:23b – The gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. (NIV)

What a delightful season we are entering! Robins return home and tiny crocuses poke their little heads up through the warming earth, even amidst the last bit of clinging snow. Baby ducklings follow mama duck, curiously turning to and fro, discovering this new world around them. Streams and brooks flow with a new exuberance, freed at last from winter's grasp. We exchange smiles, as we walk with a spring in our step, feeling so much lighter because we've shed the heavy coats and boots of the past few months.

Such is our joy when we first come to know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We, like the little ducklings, look all around with bright eyes at the newness of the world in which we live. Our inner joy bubbles up and our faces light up in smiles. We have shed the heaviness of our sin and there's a spring in our step and a song in our hearts.

1 Peter 1:21 – Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. (NIV)

The ducklings try to follow in a straight line, but sometimes they get a little off course. We are like that too. We try to follow God's teachings as closely as we can, but sometimes, we straggle behind, get waylaid, or drift off course. But God is never far from us and patiently guides us back on course because He loves us so much. What a delightful season we enter when we accept Him as our Lord, Saviour, and Friend!

Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Lord and Saviour of all, thank You for Your display of faithfulness to us. You are always near, and You have so many new and wonderful blessings to pour out on us. Help us, Lord, to be worthy of Your love in this and all seasons. Amen.
