The 3D Glasses

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Hast Thou Not Known"1 (Lyrics)

1 Corinthians 2:14-16 – The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. (NIV)

My daughter and I really enjoy going to the movies. One of the last ones we attended required us to wear 3D glasses. As the film advanced across the screen, from time to time, I would look over the top of the glasses just to see what difference it made. Without the benefit of the 3D glasses, however, everything was just a blur, out of focus.

Similarly, before we come to experience the love and salvation of Christ, the spiritual world is also out of focus, just a blur, so to speak, something which makes little or no sense to us. We are blind to the ways and will of God. Once we come to know Christ, however, and are filled by the power of His Holy Spirit, our eyes are opened in a new way. Like wearing 3D glasses at the movies, the script of our life begins to make more sense. We are able, through the Spirit, to understand what we could not before. We see the larger picture concerning the world, our place within it, and the world yet to come.

How are you seeing things today? Are you relying on the 3D effect that the Holy Spirit is able to supply in regards to your life and situation? Are you prayerfully accessing the mind of Christ within you, or are you seeking to overlook Him and view the situation through your own eyes? The choice is yours.

Prayer: Father God, thank You so much for the power of the Holy Spirit Who blesses us with spiritual discernment and judgment. Bless us today with a humble spirit that we might not rely upon our own sight but upon the mind of Christ within us. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

    Amen to your prayer!

May it be so Lynne. Good thoughts.

Great analogy and well written. Thank you.

May we always wear the 3-D glasses of Christ!

    Very good. Keep writing.
    Blessings.

Thanks so much Lynne. One of my favourite hymns is: May the mind of Christ my Saviour live in me from day to day. It is a beautiful prayer along the theme of today’s devotional.

    Hi Lynne,
One of the verses that I favor. You did it justice with your analogy to 3D movies. Thanks.
God continue to bless you and your ministry.

    Dear Lynne,
I can appreciate this devotional as my daughter and I love to watch movies as well. Applying the 3D glasses to the spiritual world was a great analogy. It made me think of the Trinity; how Father, Son and Holy Spirit are working in our lives.

My thanks for yet another interesting Devotional.
Blessings in the name of Jesus.

    Dear Lynne,
re: “Bless us today with a humble spirit that we might not rely upon our own sight but upon the mind of Christ within us. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.”
Your prayer is where I am today – seeking to rely on the mind of Christ within me; thank you and God bless.
