In His Rest

In all the busyness of today, we can lose sight of what is important. For myself, I know that sometimes, it is the end of the day before I realize that I was so busy with things, I did not spend as much time with Jesus as I should have. Thank goodness, He never leaves us. I think that He patiently waits for us.

The other night, I was trying to sleep when I started to hear the words of the following poem. I had to get up and write it down. I hope that it speaks to others, to help us to know that we are not alone, no matter what the storm in our lives is about. As we focus on Jesus and what is really important, trying to live more like Him and enjoying the peace and rest that only God can provide, we will become stronger in our faith and be able to share His love, peace, and rest with others.

In His Rest Let His arms hold you Let His hands be your hands He knows what you are going through He completely understands. Let His Word speak to you Let His feet be your feet Watch as He guides you You'll have victory instead of defeat. Let His thoughts be your thoughts Let His heart be your heart With His blood, your life He bought So even in death, you won't be apart.

Prayer: Lord, we pray that we would look to You, instead of seeking other ways of getting through the storms that come our way. Thank You that You want to hold us in Your arms, to give us rest, and to help us to be what You need us to be. We pray today that we would know who You are, how much we need You, and how much You love us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Psalm 46:10a – Be still, and know that I am God. (NIV)

Yes, Jesus is always with us whether we feel His Presence or not. Thanks for writing and sharing this poem devotional with us. Blessings.

Thank you, Brenda, for your devotional today. I have copied the poem to read over. It is a wonderful testimony.

    Hi Brenda,
I just had an aunt forward me this devotional. She thought it would be an encouragement and thought it was kind of neat it came from Innerkip.
Thank you for being faithful with your gifts!

    Hi Brenda,
Thanks for your lovely poem, In His Rest. It has inspired me so much that I will be sharing with friends. As the time gets increasingly difficult we must be aware that we can rest in God’s presence.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Brenda
Thank-you for your reflection today. Just before I read your reflection (In His Rest), I was reading the section of Nouwen’s the Wounded Healer that described the dislocation and despair experienced by so many today. The assurance that we are not alone through our daily trials-n-tribulations is both affirming and comforting.

    Hi Brenda,
What a wonderful message from you and a precious poem. Those words are straight from the heart of God for me in these days.
I should like to ask something of you, please.
I should very much like to insert your poem (with suitable attribution) and indeed use it as the central theme for
our church bulletin at our next meeting.
All blessings and thank you again for your devotional.

    Beautiful poem, Brenda.
