Equipped For Every Good Work

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NKJV)

Isaiah 43:2 – When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. (NKJV)

I once counted up the times that I have moved through my life — a total of 35. That meant moving everything — pets, books, dishes, furniture — sometimes to another country, city, province, or state — changing mailing addresses and saying goodbye to friends, neighbours, and gardens. Some of those moves took place when I was old enough to be only a hindrance. Never once did I want to leave where I was, but very quickly, I became a reluctant expert at packing, carrying, and unpacking, then re-establishing my daily routine in yet another location.

But in all the disruptions, my daily spiritual routine in the morning has equipped me, then and now, to be of maximum service to God and those around me. This means Scripture reading, prayer, and meditation when I get up — when I consciously turn over my life and will to God for the day — then listening for and responding to spiritual nudges that come along. These exercises continually equip me to live the only real life, the spiritual one with God, eternal not just in the heavens, but right here and now.

The equipping also comes through experiencing the sorrow, loss, and pain of this world. Since I've begun to see the blessings that are always present as I go through the waters and the fires, I have even ceased to struggle. "I've been there," I can say to another. I'm continually enabled to see this equipping for what it is — the only way to grow in the Spirit.

All the hard things that we are up against bring us into the sunlight of the Spirit, ours to share. For sure, we cannot keep our faith unless we give it away. If our climb is all uphill, that is often a good indication that we are on the right path. God has equipped us for climbing our mountains, and He goes with us every inch of the way.

Jeremiah 29:11b – This message is from the Lord. "I have good plans for you. I don't plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future." (Easy-to-Read Version)

Prayer: Thank You for all the blessings that come to us as we take up our journey. We thank You even for our problems and troubles, dear heavenly Father, since they turn us to You. Keep us aware of Your presence in everything that we say and do. How grateful we are that You alone ensure that we are well prepared and fully equipped to meet every necessity, and You see us through the complicated and stressful days of this time in our world. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you, Rose, for sharing this devotional with us. Blessings.

Amen Rose. I am in the middle of a move right now, very timely!

That is my morning routine too and I thank you for added inspiration.

Thanks, Rose. I also moved many times. I can identify with your story.

Thanks again Rose for a good devotional.
Thanks for all your devotionals, I enjoy reading them.

    Hi,
    Another good one Rose.
    God bless.

Thanks for another inspiring message today, Rose. My daily morning quiet times are what keep me going as well. There’s no better way to start the day than with our amazing God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessings.

When I first began to read this devotional, I thought it was written by someone in the services as they move around a lot. That is quite impressive, but you have roots in Christianity which has grounded you very lovingly. Thank you for today’s message.

    Hi Rose,
Your devotional today is such a true testament of the faithfulness of God, through each and everything we face in life today. He’s never failed us yet!!! Amen.

    Dear Rose,
Thanks so much for the devotional this morning! We have such a wonderful God who knows our every need! He even gives us the desires of our hearts and daily LOADS us with benefits!
    God bless you abundantly!

    Dear Rose,
Appreciated your writing of this morning’s devotional. How privileged we are for the love and care of our Lord and His plans for our daily life.
Blessings upon you today and the days ahead.

Hello again, Rose. Thank you for being today a willing messenger from God!
I can relate to every ‘bad’ thing you wrote about and this year has been the absolute worst. It exhausted my body and has left me with little to no mental resources. I find no spirit of gratitude.
The Bible says that God will not give me more than I can bear. I cannot believe that at present. Please pray for me.
    Thank you.

Hi Rose. It is so good to read your words again. Thank you for your very insightful devotional. As always, you’re right on the mark. God is definitely typing with you.
35 moves! Wow! I’ve only moved a half dozen and I cannot say I enjoyed the work that went into them, nor every place I had to go. I am happy where I am right now, and God only knows what the future holds. I am so thankful that He does, and I don’t!
I hope you are well and enjoying Autumn.
God bless you Rose and thank you again.

    Dear Rose,
Thank you for your words of encouragement and wisdom, born of experience. I do thank the Lord for you and your ministry!
    Blessings,
    (BC)

    Dear Rose,
I can’t even imagine moving 35 times but what a wonderful devotional on how change and struggles can help us to grow as we turn to God for our strength. It made me think about how many times I have moved which is 2 times. You can see I am a stick in the mud but even though I don’t change physical position there are many challenges in other ways which I need to be grounded in God’s Word to overcome with love. God has put us all on unique paths and we need to celebrate whatever our path is and learn from the good and the bad along the way and trust that God knows what we need. If we turn to him for his wisdom and guidance and surround ourselves with other Christians for support, we will be able to spread the hope that we have in Jesus. Thank you from sharing always from your heart.

    Dear Rose,
Reading your devotion – one month after the destruction of Hurricane Michael – and weary from sorting, discarding and cleaning. It was a good reminder that this too shall pass.
    Thanks for the hopeful message.

    Dear Rose DeShaw,
    Thank you for your devotional.
    Keep writing.
