Beautiful Feet

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Rise Up O Men Of God"1 (Lyrics)

Romans 10:15b – As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (NIV)

E-mail, texting, Skyping, blogging … perhaps it's time to rewrite Romans 10:15 to say, "How beautiful are the fingers of those who type good news!" The social interaction is missing in today's styles of communicating, and thus some of the beauty is lost.

However, in having said that, I also realize that the "good news" being referred to in today's verse is this:

Romans 10:13 – Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (NIV)

And then, the passage goes on to ask:

Romans 10:14-15a – How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? (NIV)

The important verb here is "sent". Now, instead of using our feet, we use our fingers. When I write an e-mail, it is in vain unless I hit "Send". Texting, Skyping, or blogging also requires a final step: "Enter".

The good news is news that has to be shared. We are the "feet", whether it's delivered in person or by some other means. Our responsibility is to take it out there!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the good news. Help us to be "beautiful feet" in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone we can in whatever manner we can use. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

    Thank you Alec.

    Good thoughts Alec.

    Loved your message today, Alec.

Lovely food for thought Alec. Thanks for sharing.

    Alex
    Well done!

    Thanks Alec,
I really enjoyed your submission. Short but loaded with significance.
    Blessings.

Alec – what a great devotional! I love the way you used the modern conveyances of today to equate with use of feet in the days of yore. God Bless.

Thank you for such an up-to-date reminder that every encouraging word is good. How I love Facebook interaction with Christian brothers & sisters in Uganda, Malaysia and England. I can quickly type a short thought and
hit send and in 3 minutes read their response! We feel close and involved even though we have not physically been together in years!

    Dear Alec:
Thank you for a most timely devotional and reminder of our calling to be bearers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: a duty/message that all too often seems to be slighted and ignored by today’s churches in their pursuit of trying to fit in and not be offensive.
    Grace and peace.

Thank you Alec for sharing this with us. May God bless your own fingers and feet as you share the Good News. Blessings.

    Dear Alex,
    I appreciated your devotional.
I pray that we will have beautiful “feet” to take the message, beautiful “fingers” to type it, and beautiful “tongues” to speak it into our neighbors’ ears.
    Keep writing.
