When I Needed You

Mondays seem especially difficult. Then, I notice the emptiness more for some reason, and my heart is especially heavy today. So instead of eating, I write. The television blares behind me, but I don't really pay attention to America's Got Talent blaring in the background. That is, I don't listen until I recognize the words of this song:

    If tomorrow never comes,
Will she know how much I loved her?

And the grace of God pours over me all over again as I listen to the words of the song Ron chose for his funeral service.

You might think that I grasp at straws, looking for some kind of purpose in my pain. Maybe I do. But somewhere, a singer "randomly" chose a song for his audition. Because he had a good voice, he made it to the stage, and he got to sing that song all the way through without getting buzzed. And I heard it when I needed it.

Psalm 9:1-4 – I'm thanking you, God, from a full heart, I'm writing the book on your wonders. I'm whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I'm singing your song, High God. The day my enemies turned tail and ran, they stumbled on you and fell on their faces. You took over and set everything right; when I needed you, you were there, taking charge. (MSG)

Prayer: God, thank You for knowing exactly what we need and giving it to us. In Christ, we pray. Amen.

Thanks for sharing Brenda. God bless.

His timing is always perfect, isn’t it?

Thank you Brenda, succinct and meaningful, straight to the point.
    Great message.

Loved you devotional today Laura, can so relate to it myself. Also like the MSG version of Ps. 9, 1-4. Thank you my friend.

Hi Brenda, It’s good to see you here! My prayers are here for you and may God bless you. Your brother with the Lord,
    (In.)

Isn’t it amazing how God reaches into our lives to bring us comfort when we need it. It was several months ago that I lost my wife and then along comes this devotional giving peace and comfort! Thank you.

    Dear Brenda:
God bless you for writing of your pain and the encouragement afforded by a song.
We are so blessed to have a Saviour who meets us where we are.

Hello Brenda. As I read this message, I sensed your loneliness. It comes in waves, doesn’t it! I find week-ends rather bleak at times, and so I hold Jesus’ hand and tell Him all about it. I often get on computer and reply to a long overdue letter, or just sit down with a good book. It is amazing how the time passes!!

    Hello,
I just read the devotional that you submitted and I would like to tell you that I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a love one is never easy. I hope that you find peace and solace in the memories and in God’s love.
    Blessings.

    Dear Brenda;
Thank you for sharing your heart with us. And thanks be to God, Who, at the right time, worked everything out just so you can hear the words and let you know that He is with you. May God continue to give you those little miracles in however and whichever way He so chooses.

    Hi Brenda,
I rejoice with you – God is never asleep and knows when we need that special sign of His presence. I have a whole haystack of “straws” which He has provided me, just when I most needed Him.
    Thank you for sharing this.
    God bless you.

Thank you Brenda as I sit here in the driveway of my work, thinking with a heavy heart after being away for awhile. That I cannot do this job anymore, the raw pain of losing someone I cared for deeply is now gone to be with Jesus. I can do this through Christ who strengthens me, I’m right I can’t do it. But together with Jesus I can.
    Blessings Brenda on your day.

    O Brenda:
Let us never, never forget God is always there when we need Him. So many times He comes in a small and insignificant way, yet a way that comforts us and allow us to know He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Don’t allow this Old World to make you weary, you have so much to offer and contribute to the Message of the Cross. Hold your head high and continue to be a great servant for He who loves you more than anyone else ever did and if tomorrow never comes, you will be seated in heaven with those who were faithful to His word.

Brenda: As I read your contribution to today’s Devotional I thought you were writing it for me.
My wife has travelled a long road with Alzheimer’s dementia and along with me as her primary caregiver. As she now lies in a hospital bed I also wonder, “Does she still know, does she really appreciate, how much I love her?”
I guess it matters not so long as I know and thank my Lord she physically suffers not. As I think back in time I also must thank Him for the years I have known her. Then there are persons we’ve met along the way, the places we’ve experienced and the volunteer hours we’ve had the health to serve others and I repeat, “Thank you God.” I wonder each day how many more I will be able to talk to her and she with eyes that recognize me not. Still it hurts.

Thank you Brenda for sharing this testimony of God’s grace.
    Blessings.

Isn’t God Wonderful, Brenda. He knows our needs and has the whole world in His Hands.
    Blessings.

    Thank you Brenda, for sharing.
    Blessings.
