Shoe Shuffle

Listen while you read: "Follow Me The Master Said"1 (Lyrics)

Little ones sometimes get their shoes on the wrong toes, but eventually, they figure it out. We should expect that. After all, they are new to the foot business.

However, try to explain how a woman of reasonably advanced years (not overly advanced, you understand) gets her shoes on the wrong feet. It is not as bad as it sounds. It was only my orthotic inserts, but I trotted around a large shopping mall for quite some time, all the while wondering why my feet hurt. Finally, when I got home and looked carefully …

Sometimes, our whole life hurts. We wander around in a daze trying to figure out what is wrong, when all we need to do is return home to the Father, admit our guilt, and join the party.

Luke 15:20-24 – And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son." But the father said to his servants, "Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." And they began to be merry. (NKJV)

But it all started with the journey toward home.

Prayer: Lord, we admit that we are a long way from You in so many ways. We know the direction to take. Help us take that first step toward You. For Christ's sake, we pray. Amen.

    Funny lady.

    Excellent! Amen.

I suppose Brenda we’ve all worn the wrong shoes at times. God bless.

Brenda – So good to hear from you. Thank you for this practical message.
    God bless.

    Dearest Brenda!
    Thanks for writing to us.
Oh for wisdom to take note of “misery”, stop and turn toward home sooner, rather than later.

Hi Brenda, I chuckled as I read the beginning of your devotional today. Recently I made my way all around town with my pants on inside out, with my daughter & neither of us noticed, until I was in the car. To say the least I was embarrassed as I had been to several public places including a restaurant. Alas I felt brought up short, just as we are sometimes when God tugs at us when we away from Him. At these times we should feel even more embarrassed than when we have our pants on inside out or our orthotics in the wrong way. Thank you. God Bless.

    So True Brenda,
    Thanks for the interesting devotional.
    May God richly bless you.
