A Kind Reminder

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Jesus Stand Among Us"1 (Lyrics)

Psalm 30:5b – Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (NKJV)

It is seldom now that others mention or even remember that grief continues to be a big part of my life. That's why this note from a fellow devotional author caught me by surprise.

    Dear Brenda,

I guess you are now settled into being the new you. Keep on keeping on and know that God is with you and do not tire in doing good.

Rest assured that you will be reunited one day with all the good and sanctified being of your husband as we all join together in worship of our Saviour Jesus. Remember that you, too, will get new body and will be leaping and jumping and praising God again, even if you have momentarily stopped.

It's nice to be reminded, because some days, I tend to forget that there is a better day ahead.

Will we recognize our spouses when we see them in heaven? I believe so, but the Bible is clear that our relationship will be very different.

Matthew 22:30 – At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. (NIV)

The Message puts it this way:

Matthew 22:30 – At the resurrection we're beyond marriage. As with the angels, all our ecstasies and intimacies then will be with God. (MSG)

Prayer: Lord, thank You that we will see our loved ones in heaven, but more importantly, that our relationship with You will be even deeper. Amen.

    God bless Brenda.

Thanks Brenda for this reminder. Been missing my honey a bit recently. As you know, grief comes in waves. Blessings.

Thanks Brenda. Oh I CAN’T SEE MYSELF AS AN ANGEL-CAN YOU?
For now God’s blessings be upon you – and me to!

    Aw – how nice.

May your light continue to shine – showing the way ahead for you and through your words for others.

Thank you for today’s devotional. I’m in my 80’s and recently widowed. I needed to be reminded that there are better days ahead and we will see our loved ones in Heaven.

    Keep the faith Brenda,
We are all waiting for our Blessed Hope – that’s what its all about (cf. Titus 2:13)
Jesus, and His promised Kingdom will outweigh anything here on earth!
    Stay strong in the Lord.

    Brenda,
This brief meditation is like a mini-portrait of your heart. Here I see someone running and dancing with Christ – empowered by a hope from above. Here the light shines brightest on Him – even in all your dark trials and sad memories.
May He continue to be your strength and joy.

    Thank you for the devotion.
My hubby was Promoted to Glory after 51 years of marriage.
To say there was a hole left in my life would be an understatement.
We have been studying about Heaven in our adult Bible Study.
    All this ties in.
    Shalom!

Thanks, Brenda, for your message. When my husband died a few years ago I left a busy life on the farm and moved into a bungalow in the nearby village. Many people ask me cheerfully if I am enjoying my new home. I usually answer that I am but that I really miss my old life. I’m sure people don’t mean to be insensitive but they don’t stop to think about the painful part of being uprooted and grieving the loss of someone so dear. I know how dreadful it would have been for my husband to have been forced to leave the farm so I am thankful that never had to happen. That has been a great comfort to me.
Isn’t it wonderful that God is the God of all comfort.

    Dear Brenda,
How odd and interesting it was to me to just read your devotional for today March 2,2015. as I spent some time struggling to be OK while all the time feeling so sad as my husband died in March 2013. Time does heal as we seem to say, but heart aches still happen. I Appreciate your devotional and am thankful you have a friend who sent you words of encouragement. I am richly blessed with family and friends who have not yet forgotten our heart ache.
I am sending up a prayer for your Comfort from our Father.

    Dear Brenda,
How difficult it is for us to lose a loved one for what ever reason.
We have been given the gift of writing; how blessed we are as writers. Praying that our Lord will shower you with more and more of His grace; we have so much we need to do for Him.
These losses of emotional attachments or physical disabilities bring us all the more closer to Him-it has for me. As to what we will be like in Heaven, I love this passage: ! John 3:2 – Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (NKJV)
May God continue to bless you.

    Good Morning My Friend:
Thank you for sharing your feelings. It is still early for you in your grieving and I believe you are doing amazingly well. I often wonder will we recognize one another when we reach that golden shore, as the way I understand it, we will have spiritual bodies not physical like we have now. Wow that is awesome, as my body is not the shape it was when I was younger. We will all be there as one in brotherly love praising our heavenly father.

I have been married for over 50 years. After hearing a sermon on humility I realized we human Christians often become proud with facts such as years of marriage and forget it. We don’t praise God for this blessing and thanking Him that we have our husbands.. but rather boast of how much “we” have accomplished rather than give thanks for His walking with us each of those hours. Many women of my ge — over 70 — are alone for the rest of our lives. Others seem to flaunt what they have.
I hope Brenda you will be so blessed in your widowhood.

    Dear Brenda
Your message was in reference to the foundation that folks are in need of. The two portions of scripture that you typed are solid! We will know each other.
Peter, James and John had never seen, nor heard the voice of Moses or Elias. They beheld, recognized and heard them talking with Jesus.
But, all the present bodily activities will change to spiritual, everlasting activities. Yes, the state of our current ever-changing fleshly body, and mind, has to one degree or another, all the need to be changed into the likeness of Jesus’ body.
I have read your notes before, and I with others, pray with you, that our God, through his Son Jesus and by the blessed Holy Spirit will fill you with the joy of being with Him as your time to depart draws nearer!
My prayers are with, and for you!
    (USA)

Dear Brenda, Thank you for your kind words and for sharing. My husband went to receive his reward early this year. Although I am happy for him I miss him dearly. Not a day goes by that I don’t remember him. I look forward to a great reunion.
Thank you for sharing. May God continue to bless and empower you.
