I'm telling you ahead of time so that you can get ready to participate in Tie One On Day, on the fourth Wednesday of November. EllynAnne Geisal invites us to buy an apron and tie a baked product like bread or cookies into it.
Then tuck a personal note or maybe a prayer into the pocket, and give it to someone in your community who needs some encouragement. The idea is to bring joy to the life of someone in need of it, and to celebrate both the spirit of giving and the generations of women who wore aprons.
Although this day was originated in connection with American Thanksgiving, anyone can try this simple act of generosity. Who knows what might come of it!
Proverbs 11:24-25 – The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped. (MSG)
Prayer: Lord, Your generosity blesses us every day. Give us the common sense to return the favour! Amen.
