What If?

What if the world suddenly stopped spinning? Would the entire human race cease to exist? What if your house were hit by a falling tree, or a tornado, or a bolt of lightning?

What if you got sick and couldn't look after your elderly parent any longer? What if something happened to your spouse, and you found yourself suddenly alone? Decisions which you shared with your spouse before, you would have to make alone. What if you made the wrong decision?

What if? What if? What if?

The "what if" questions confront us almost every day, without answers.

This type of questions can go on and on, bringing fear and negativity into our minds.

God's Word says:

Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (NIV)

Let us give the "what ifs" to God. He knows our future. He knows what is best for us.

Prayer: Lord God, we want so much to give our worries to You, but sometimes, we find that very hard to do. Remind us that You are always with us and You love us, even when we question Your will for our lives. Thank You. Amen.

Thank you for the (if) that can work it’s way into our lives!! Let us break the hold back of Satan’s power and trust in Jesus as our saviour now and forever. Gob bless.

Thanks for drawing our attention to the fact it is all too easy for us to major in the minors. We owe it to ourselves to leave the distracting concerns with Him.
    Thanks for sharing.

Dear Rosemary, what a perfect message/reminder for the first Sunday of the new year! Some of these ‘what ifs” have been hounding me in the last few weeks. You have helped me to hand them all over! Thank you. God bless.

Dear Rosemary, Reading your devotional today it felt as if God was talking to you. I have been torturing myself with ‘what ifs’ and afraid to bother God yet again with requests to help me as thats all l seem to do. Thank you, you have helped me greatly. God bless you.

    Hello Rosemary
I didn’t open my emails until this evening. Wish I had done it earlier. I have had a difficult day. This devotional is me all over. My husband has terminal cancer and I am struggling to deal with it. There are many “what ifs” in my life right now. As you said in your prayer we find it hard to cast our worries to God. When I lift my heart to God in prayer everything seems to flow more smoothly. So often there is something in the daily devotional that points right at me and today was one. Thanks.
    Blessings.

Thanks for sharing this devotional. Blessings.

Life is full of what if’s isn’t it…but then….there is God!
