Proud To Be Accepted!

John 6:37 – All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (NIV)

Dyslexia does funny things to my perception of the written word on the page. Like many others, I am, in some manner, cross-wired in the head. This makes the cost of reading high, and the desire to put our thoughts down on paper can become diminished by the accumulation of frustration and negative experience during our formative years. Seldom, if ever, can we put down what is in our heads at our first go, unless it is very short, but even this is not guaranteed. I have re-written this paragraph more than several times already!

School has been a miserable time for us, because we have been labelled as careless, messy, thick, lazy, etc. It gives us a different view of life, because we see differently, and, sometimes through acquired experience, we can see more clearly, and perceive more of life than others.

Years ago, I became a teacher for a short while. It was good finally to come to terms with dyslexia, what it is, and what it means for me. But it is even better to find others like me out there in cyberspace.

Praise God for the rise of the Information Technology world, for spelling and grammar checkers, to which I am eternally in debt, for, without the aid of computers, I would never have come this far!

I wrote an e-mail to a fellow dyslexic today. It made me think about all those of us out there who are carrying burdens and disabilities through no fault of our own. Nobody is to blame.

To know that God, in Jesus, loves each one of us, spurs us on for the Kingdom of God. For no matter where we have been, what we look like, or what the world says or does, we are loved, yes, even you and me!

John 10:14 – I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me. (NIV)

John 8:51 – I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. (NIV)

Prayer: Lord, we thank you for your acceptance. We rejoice in your life-giving salvation, for to know you is to know eternal life. We ask you into our lives again, to receive your eternal acceptance, no matter who, or where, we are. Welcome to our lives! Walk with us, and be with us today. Show us your way so that we can walk in it. Protect us from the hard world and heal us from its blows. Amen.
