In The Darkness There Is Light

Daniel 2:22 – He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. (NIV)

Travelling down the highway late in the afternoon, I noted that the lights along the roadside came on, one by one. As the sun begins to set and the light of day fails, sensors trigger the roadside lights to come on. All through the night, the lights stay on to show us the way along the road, until the sun once more begins to rise, bringing with it the light that signals the sensors to turn them off.

So it is with us, as we travel the road of life. In our darkest days, Satan attempts to strike our lives with financial hard times, the passing away of a loved one, the loss of a job, or problems with a relationship. When darkness approaches, God triggers our sensor to keep the light of life on. We must not let Satan get a grip, for God is there in our darkest hour to remind us to let Jesus be our light to keep us from all harm.

Let us be sure that we heed the signal that triggers the sensor. We must not let it "turn us off", but rather make sure that we let Jesus keep a balance of light to show us the way in which to travel, in the darkness of the night.

Ephesians 5:13 – But everything exposed by the light becomes visible. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, be with us in our darkest hours, and stay on through the night, so that the light of Your countenance will enable us to see. Be present with each one of us, and send Your Holy Spirit so that we can find our way, until the morning breaks, and we see everything clearly. We pray in Jesus' name, thanking You, dear Lord, that in the darkness there is light. Amen.
