Still Under Construction

Philippians 1:6 – Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Our renovations that began full-time last April are still continuing. When I look at our photo album — we've been keeping a good record of every phase of the project — I'm amazed at how far we've come, especially considering the fact that my husband has done most of the work himself. But I still find myself getting impatient, and looking around at everything that still has to be done.

Isn't this just like us in our faith journey? We may have come a long way in our spiritual growth, but there is still much growing to be done. I once saw a T-shirt that said, "Be patient, God isn't finished with me yet."

Thankfully God is always at work in our lives, for we, too, are still under construction, and He is making us into the image of His Son, Jesus. God does not, however, get discouraged when He sees how much work there is still to do in us. Instead He looks at us and sees Jesus, Who died on the cross for our sins. In His time and according to His will, He continues to make us and mould us into the people He created us to be. Thanks be to God!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are so grateful that You are always with us, and that You are patient with us. We pray that You will continue to work in our lives, making us into the people that You created us to be. Keep us from being discouraged and impatient, and help us to trust in You each day. In Jesus' name. Amen.
