Times And Seasons

Daniel 2:21 – And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. (NKJV)

I recently went to get an item we needed for our trip. Each store that I went into replied to me that I could not get the item I needed because it was "out of season".

How many times we find ourselves living in one season but shopping and going about our day in the next season! The stores always seem to be a season ahead with clothing and displays; one no sooner gets one holiday over but the stores are filled with the next holiday or season.

The Bible speaks about the seasons many times, and how we need to be ready.

2 Timothy 4:2 – Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. (NKJV)

Jesus is the only one Who has the seasons of our lives in His hand. The following Scripture brings us back to Jesus, and reminds us that we need make sure our focus is on Him and not on worldly times and seasons.

Matthew 11:28 – Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (NKJV)

As followers of Jesus and citizens of heaven, we are always in the position of living in one season and preparing for the next. We all have to live in this world until the Lord's time to take us home to Himself, but all the while, we are preparing ourselves and looking forward to the season when we will live with Him in heaven.

Prayer: Lord, help us to live each day to honour and glorify Your name, and to be mindful of You and Your wishes and desires for us. Help us to be more aware of the spiritual times and seasons in which we live, and to walk in the light of Your glory, anticipating the time of Your return to us. Amen.
