I was warned that the surgery results could be bad. Yes, the cancer would be removed, but my face might be seriously disfigured. I was a speaker, working both in person and on television. This was devastating news. I expected the worst. Refusing to let me sit home and mope, my husband dragged me to a Shiloh concert. Their worshipful, Scripture-based music soothed my heart and helped calm my fears. My depression lifted, and once again, my heart was able to hear God's voice offering peace and comfort.
Even the prophet Elisha needed a little tune to get him into a godly frame of mind. When our hearts are too heavy to praise God with our own lips, let's remember that God has gifted many others with the ability to (temporarily) do that for us.
Exodus 15:2a – The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. (RSV)
Is our CD, tape, radio, MP3 turned on yet? Eventually, we will be able to carry the tune ourselves, but in the meantime, let's hum along with the songs of another.
Prayer: Lord, thanks for providing so many types of Christian musicians and singers. Thanks for reminding us that we won't be uplifted if we don't press the button. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Saturday, April 20, 2024 – In Niger — We had some wonderful cool weather through January and February which was a real blessing as we approach the hot season in April/May. We welcomed three returning students who had been delay due to the coup d'état. Pray for a resolution to the coup, and for endurance during the hot season and power cuts. Pray for the salvation and growth of our students.
