Joshua 1:5 – No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. (NKJV)
We recently went out west for our holiday, and our journey took us to the Rocky Mountains in western Canada. Our first hotel was nestled in the Rockies, and as I sat there and reflected on the vastness and majestic beauty before me, I felt like I was sitting in God's backyard. Our holiday time was filled with many a day of just taking in the awesome beauty that stood before us, and we praised and thanked God for such beauty day after day.
When we got back and I met with my friend for coffee, she shared with me about her holiday, which took her to the east coast of Canada at the same time as we were out west. As she shared all that God had done on her holiday, I came to the realization that God does not take vacations. We are now back at home and seeing the signs of fall — the trees have tinges of colour in them already. This further convicted me of my realization that God does not take a vacation. He really is in control of the earth and all that is upon it.
We can choose to take God with us, as we did on our vacation — or sadly, we can go off on holiday without God and then try to pick God back up when we return. One thing is for sure:
Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (NKJV)
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for our world so beautiful. We thank You for each coast and continent that You have provided for us. In a world that is in so much turmoil, we need to remember that You are in control. Please help us to include You in all that we do from day to day — and even on our vacations. Help us to share Your majesty and beauty with unbelievers. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
