Beauty To The Eyes

Listen to this devotional:

Psalm 29:2 – Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. (NKJV)

Recently, while I was reading a article on the Internet, the following title caught my eye: "Planet Earth: Birds of Paradise". When I clicked on the link, it was a video showing 42 different species of birds that are found in Papua New Guinea, birds that I had never seen before, even in zoos and aviaries that I had visited.

It is so easy for us to get caught up in thinking that we have seen it all or done it all, and that we have basically arrived. In reality though, we don't have to go to New Guinea to experience something fresh and new. We have only to look outside our own windows to see the world of paradise that God created for us.

We may have to look hard and deep through a sin-tainted world, but it is there for us to experience. Take, for example, the hummingbird, truly a fascinating gift from the Lord. Or look up to see the stars that light the dark sky. Travel to any lake or stream, and watch the water lap up on the shore, and all the fish and life below the water.

1 John 3:2 – Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we await the day when we will see You as You are. Help us in this time to take notice of all that You have given us for our time on earth. Remind us to point out the beauty and wonder, which reveal Your creativity, to those who do not know You. We praise and glorify Your wonderful name, in which we pray. Amen.
