The Wonder Of The Web

Monday, April 20, 1998

Matthew 5:15 – Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

How many of those of us who are enjoying the magic of the computer uttered the words "I'd never have a computer!" "Too impersonal." "It takes up too much time." "Don't even know how to turn one on!"

How many of us swore we would for sure never, ever send out a "generic" Christmas letter to all our friends? Or, thought "the web" was only something in which one would be caught? What about all the times we rolled our eyes when someone started talking computer lingo or asked us if we had an e-mail address? Who, me? How many of us heard the phrase "try it, you'll like it", and just knew we wouldn't.

How many of us chuckle now, at the thought of the "never say never" phrase.

How many of us enjoy this particular web site and all it offers at the mere touch of a button or two. And who among us holds a mouse in their hand every day, having at one time thought the term only referred to a furry little creature.

How wonderful to read scriptures every day with new interpretations; to post a prayer, to see a prayer posted and read of prayers answered; to receive encouragement and support, and how truly wonderful to hear from relatives and friends, old and new.

These are some of the wonders of the web. How wonderful indeed.

Prayer: Our Father, we thank you for the "workings of the web", for those who put this site together, for our web editor who takes time with each and every one of us, for prayers posted and received. We thank you for prayers which have been answered quickly. We thank you Lord, for the "light" of this "candlestick", may it continue to "shine" in your glory. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.
