2 Corinthians 4:6 – It started when God said, "Light up the darkness!" and our lives filled with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful. (MSG)

Yesterday, the power was out in the area where we live. The outage lasted four hours, and because we'd been given prior warning, we were prepared. It was a dark and rainy day. Even expecting and knowing the power to be off, I don't know how many times I entered a room and reached for the light switch without thinking! Click. Nothing.

In the beginning, God said, "Let there be light!" and it was just like He had flipped a switch. Suddenly, there was light all over the world. The moment that we say "Yes" to Jesus, the same thing happens: a light comes on in us. Jesus is the light of the world. We see, we understand. The power of the Holy Spirit comes to live within us.

When we die, there's just one last breath, one heartbeat, and we're gone. Just like that. Click. Lights out. If we haven't said "Yes" to Jesus by then, it's too late. We're in spiritual darkness.

In the same way, Paul tells us what will happen "in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet" (1 Corinthians 15:52 NIV):

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 – The Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. (NIV)

One blink. A thousandth of a second. A snap of the fingers. That fast! Just like flipping a switch, both the dead and the living in Christ will suddenly leave the earth. Would you be able to make a decision that quickly? We need to be prepared. We have to make the decision to accept Christ into our lives now, before it's too late. The warning signs are all around us, and the Bible tells us to stay alert. It will happen just like that, like the flick of a switch. Click!

Prayer: Father God, Creator of the universe, You brought us in; You'll take us out. Click. Just like that. Today – this very moment – we ask You to fill our lives with Your light and power and make us ready for Your return. We acknowledge Jesus as our Saviour. In His name, we pray. Amen.

    May it be so JJ.

Thanks for the reminder that time is short and we must be ready.

Praying urgently for those who’ve postponed making a decision for Christ Jesus to do so immediately. Thanks for sharing. Blessings.

Thank you for this message. It made me think of how quickly and unexpectedly (your word — click) one’s life can be changed forever.
    Blessings.

    Hi JJ,
You are so right. The day before my father died he told me all kinds of stories from his youth, he was born in 1900, the next day, click, and all the stories were gone. I am so glad he told so many to me. I know this has nothing to do with his or my faith life, but your writings reminded me of that day many years ago.
    Blessings.

    Thanks JJ.
