The Website

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Glory To His Name"1 (Lyrics)

1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (NIV)

Build Your Own Website was a course being offered by our local college, so I decided to attend. I didn't want to build a website for myself, but I thought it would be a great idea for our local hardware and general store to have one. So, I texted my boss to see how she felt about it, and she promptly replied, "You go, girl!"

A website would allow us to showcase the store's various departments and sales as well as seasonal goods through write-ups and pictures. It would also highlight, for both tourists and locals, the hours of operation and contact information for both the store and the post office, which has recently been relocated to the store's premises.

As I considered the benefits of such a website, I thought how in many ways God's people are much like a website for Him.

1 Peter 2:10 – Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (NIV)

God, in His goodness, through Christ Jesus, has opened up the way for all who willingly and truly accept His offer to become a whole race of new people, a chosen people belonging to Him — a people who now have their heritage established in the kingdom of His wonderful light: a light which indwells us and enables us through faith, discipline, and obedience to live lives that declare the praises of Him who called us out of the darkness of sin, despair, hopeless, and eternal separation. We are God's showcase. The actions of our lives should be a picture to others of just what His love and the healing power of His forgiveness are able to do within and amidst our human failings and weaknesses. Through the power of our words we have the marvellous opportunity to write and verbally share His contact information, how others can also come to personally know and enjoy fellowship with Him now and forever.

So, the next time when you are browsing someone's website on your computer, remember that you are Someone's website, too, and through you, He wants to tell the world about Himself.

Prayer: Father God, thank You that in Christ, we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to You, that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light. And may we do just that. In Jesus' name, we ask. Amen.

    Good one Lynne, Thank you!

Great analogy! I love to hear about new ways of seeing ourselves in God’s light! Thanks and blessings.

Thanks, Lynne, for reminding us that we are the first witness to God’s love for those we meet. Blessings.

    Hi Lynn,
I am not much of a website person, but you make a very good point.
Thank you for another fine devotional.

Hello Lynne: I found your devotional interesting, as this old lady managed to build her own website from scratch several years ago. I wanted to share with others what was happening with my experience in hearing voices.
Thanks be to God I managed to reach 10,000 contacts and learned that many others are going through the same things as me. Alas I had to drop it a few years ago as it was getting too costly for my budget. I felt blessed that God enabled me to spread the word about what he was doing in my life at that time. I was happy to be able to sing His praised during that very dark time in my life and into his light.
Thank you for sharing your message.

Thank you Lynne, for your contribution. I often recognize them before I read your name. I hope your website brings the desired results. I, too, had a website which helped me to sell my boat, Cheers and Blessings.

    Dear Lynne,
Thank you for helping us to realize that more vitally.
    Keep writing for Jesus’ sake.
    Amen.
