Angels All Around Us

Matthew 18:10 – See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. (NIV)

Have you ever wondered how you escaped a car accident with only a scratch, whereas it could have been so much worse? I have, on many occasions. There were times, while driving my car, when I changed the radio station or inserted a music disc into the CD drive, just to look up and see that I had swerved a little too far to the left, narrowly missing an oncoming car. Something or someone made me look up at just the right time.

Psalm 91:11-12 – For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. (NIV)

A few years ago, my youngest daughter and I were driving home from a shopping trip. It was wintertime. We were coming down a hill, and the stop light turned yellow. We came to a stop. We heard a muffled sound behind us, getting louder the closer it came towards us. By the time we realized what was happening, a huge transport truck passed us on the right-hand side driving through a red light. As the light turned green, we noticed the truck on the side of the highway. We saw the driver's face. As far as I could see, he was apparently shaken and in shock. We surmised that his brakes must have failed. When we looked behind us, we wondered how this huge transport trailer could have passed us without impact. The truck had about two feet between my car and the lamp post to pass us. If that truck had hit us, it would have hit the passenger side where my daughter was sitting. It was a miracle. I believe it was an angel that intervened at just the right time.

We often don't recognize that these celestial beings have come to our aid until much later, when we reflect about the incident and wonder how we got through it and lived to tell about it.

God sends His angels to help and protect us, sometimes without our knowing about it at all. The least that we can do in return is to intervene to assist and guard others, and be an "angel" to them.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for sending Your angels to help and protect us. Empower us to be "angels" to others, whether it be by volunteering in a retirement facility or hospital, sending a card, visiting the home-bound, making a phone call, sending flowers, or giving someone a much-needed hug. Amen.

    Very nicely said once again.

Thanks for the good word Rosemary.

This sounds like it could be a commentary on a book. He knows every step we take and to carry out His divine plan for our lives, He sends His angels to guide and guard us. What a loving God we have.

Thank you for sharing today’s devotional, I had these same experiences in my life and I always believe that there are angels looking out for us. Keep up the good work and may the Lord continue to inspire you.

Thanks for sharing this devotional with us. I can’t tell you how many times things like that happened to my hubby, and myself! Dad had such experiences, too. Sometimes he didn’t realize his close call until after the fact Blessings.

    Amen & Amen!
Yes, heartily agreed. I have had such close counters in my car too and our guardian angels were there to protect us.
    Blessings.

    Good Morning Rosemary,
Thanks for sharing your story about your angel encounter. Angels are all around us, to watch over and protect us, but few share their stories.
    Great reminder.
    Blessings.

    Dear Rosy!
Oh, the Angels all around us! I have seen them doing their job!
God bless you for doing yours!
God bless you for praying for families! A breakthrough for them!
    God bless you!

    Dear Rosemary,
I join you in thanking the Lord for commanding His angels to watch over my life – and saving me from death, too. What a loving God we worship! And thank you for the reminder that in serving others – even if it may seem to be in a little way – we are still serving in Jesus’ name.
God bless and keep you – as He does!

    Hi Rosemary,
Thank you for sharing your story of angels. We had an identical experience decades ago on an icy 2-lane road which also could not have happened without angels.
Your devotions are a comfort from God.
    The Lord be with you,
    (Ontario)

    Good morning Rosemary;
I was just reading the Daily Devotional you wrote for today entitled, “Angels All Around Us”. You noted my favorite verse and a number of years ago I wrote a speech for an organization called, “Angels Among Us” using the same passage from Psalms and a song that I love by the band Alabama.
I so enjoyed your devotional and am sending it to my aunt who also was inspired to write about Angels from the same verse.
Thank you for sharing this and God bless you.

Thank you once again, Rosemary, for your encouraging words as I truly believe the Lord sends angels in our times of need. Right now I would love one to bring me a good feeling other than what I have had the last ten days. I’m one that never gets colds, flu , etc. and don’t know how to react. Then I watch what’s going on and the tragedies that gazillions are going through and I take time to pray deeply for them.
In that regard, the Lord can use us at least as His praying angels. There is always something new for us to learn everyday. God loves you and so do I.

    Dear Rosemary,
You gave me a smile today with your title, “Angels All Around Us”.
We were taught about angels at Sunday School and many years ago, when my sister of two years died, Mom and Dad called her ‘an Angel who went to be with God’.
Recently, I was at a funeral for a young woman who lost her fight with cancer after several courageous years. She was very organized giving everyone a list and had told the minister and on her list was, she was to tell us to laugh and no tears as there was no time for them yesterday, it was a Celebration of her Life. When I spoke to her parents, I said ‘heaven has another Angel’.
I enjoy your writing, please keep up the great job.

    Rosy thank you
If we see with the eyes of the Spirit we will find angel activity all around us.

Rosemary – I loved this devotional. No question this was a miracle. I think many people dismiss these events as — boy, were they “lucky”. God intervenes directly and frequently, there are no coincidences, just God’s grace and either His direct or indirect (through angels) involvement in our lives. God Bless you today and always.

    Dear Rosemary,
Thank you for reminding us of angels and the work God gives them to do in his kingdom.
    Keep writing.
