Signing Up

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Praise The Lord Who Reigns Above"1 (Lyrics)

John 4:35 – Do you not say, "There are yet four months, then comes the harvest"? I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see how the fields are already white for harvest. (RSV)

What is it that makes us feel like we are not capable of doing anything for God? Is it our own lack of confidence, or do we think that someone else could do a better job? Has anyone in your church ever told you to stop doing something that you thought was helpful?

Of course, the devil knows exactly what we can accomplish for God, and he does not want that to happen, so he feeds us lies in different ways. God has a plan and a purpose for us. He says that the fields are white and we are to go and bring in the harvest.

We have to believe the promises that Jesus made, and we have to trust that God can equip us to do what needs to be done. Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father." (John 14:12 RSV)

We need to take a stand and sign up for doing God's will for our lives, for the sake of His kingdom.

When you think about it, is there really anything stopping you when you know that God is on your side?

    Little hinges open big doors.
God has lots for us to explore,
Lots of souls for the kingdom to win.
Oh my, where do I begin?
We are in a spiritual battle,
The devil likes to keep us rattled.
    Remember, Satan is a liar,
    Stay alert, don't retire.
You know your decisions are right
When results take you from darkness to light.
We need the Light, that's for sure,
Jesus Christ is the only cure.
So what are you going to do?
Realize God's promises are for you.
Sign up and do your part.
Let the Holy Spirit set a fire in your heart.
We will win one soul at a time,
So, will I see you in the Sign Up line?

Think of what God can help us to accomplish for Him!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, giver of all good things, we ask You to give us the confidence and the boldness to do what You need us to do for You. Put ones who need You in our path so that we may share the love of Jesus with them in our words and actions. Help us to remember that You designed us, and that we are blessed to be a blessing. In Your name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for your devotional this morning. Amen to your prayer.

    Dear Brenda,
    Thank you for the devotional.
A high point was the prayer.
God can use even our fumbling attempts to make a difference in the lives of persons we encounter day by day. We can help them to believe and to grow in their relationship with God and with other persons. Let us pray for this.
    Keep writing.
