Out Of The Rubbish Pile

Isaiah 64:8 – Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (NIV)

I had good intentions in raking all the winter debris out from under the hedge and off the garden. I heaped it onto the patio, but didn't get a chance to pick it up. It was Sunday, and the rain came down. I looked out and thought, "What a mess I left out there!"

Looking around at the birds, I observed a robin with its beak filled with all the good stuff for its nest, all taken out of my rubbish pile. Out of a mass of twigs and mud and straw-like grass — things I called rubbish — came something good. Moulded together and built in a tree, a robin's nest becomes a true work of art.

When God looks down upon the masses of His people, He sees what might seem to us to be rubbish, but God sees something good in each one of us. He can take us and use us for His purpose, if we let Him, and He can mould us into something we most probably never thought of.

God is the master builder with the big plan for all of our lives.

Prayer: Dear Lord, out of the rubbish, You have chosen us to be that which You desire. Help us to not resist, but to let You mould us into what it is You want us to be. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
