Everlasting Love

Jeremiah 31:3 – The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. (KJV)

Recently, I took a trip with my daughter and her two little ones. They aren't used to travelling long distances, and so became very restless on the way there. They slept most of the way home. I was sitting beside the little one. I couldn't see the expression on my face, of course — but I know love was oozing out of me towards this little girl. I feel this way when she is good, when she is being silly, when she is being bad, when she is healthy, when she is ill, when she is rebelling. Nothing can change my love for this little girl. She is precious.

As I was sitting there admiring her, I thought about how much Jesus Christ loves me. He looks at me the same way I look at my granddaughter. He loves me when I am good, when I am silly, when I am bad, when I am healthy, when I am ill, when I am rebelling, when I am following Him. Nothing will change His love for me either. Love oozes out of His eyes onto me.

Zephaniah 3:17 – The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. (NIV)

Prayer: Thank You, God, that You love us with an everlasting love. Thank You that You take great delight in us. Help us to soak in that love and let it guide our every step. Amen.
