Who's Missing?

Tuesday, November 16, 2010
Listen to this devotional:

Hebrews 10:25 – Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (NIV)

If I recite the books of the Old Testament to you, can you figure out which one I left out?

The list starts out with Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel.

Then there are 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.

And don't forget Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, and Joel.

Finally, we have Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.

Yes, you are right. Micah is missing. It fits right in between Jonah and Nahum.

Yes, we could probably muddle along without it, but we would miss precious truths.

Our church families could likely muddle along without us, too, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Let's worship together this Sunday.

Prayer: Lord, when we avoid meeting with one another, help us to see why, to deal with it, and to enjoy the family again. For Christ's sake, we pray. Amen.
