My Part

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "I Am Trusting Thee Lord Jesus"1 (Lyrics)

I don't remember one word of the sermon on Philippians 1:26, but this phrase caught my attention: "May your joy in Christ overflow on account of me."

Wait a minute! Our presence should be making others happy? Oh-oh!

Then I found that it is also to cause others to exult and glory in Christ. Oh-oh!

It should even cause them to boast in Christ. Oh-oh!

See for yourself in these translations of Philippians 1:26.

So that in me you may have abundant cause for exultation and glorying in Christ Jesus, through my coming to you again. (AMP)

So that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me. (NIV)

That your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again. (NKJV)

My grandpa always said that some people cause joy by arriving and others by leaving.

Which are we?

Prayer: Lord, help us to be the kind of people whose very presence brings joy! Only in Christ. Amen.

    Hi Brenda. Good thought.

    I would love your grandpa.

Thanks Brenda for a good word.

Short and to the point! Well done!

    Thank you, Brenda.
    Every blessing for the day.

Thank you! Succinct and right on – especially your Grandpa’s comment. Something to remember!

Thank you so much for your devotional Brenda.
You made me smile just by your manner of writing and your words are strong and helpful.

Thank you Brenda for another interesting devotional. Wonder how many people feel Joy from the encounters with me. Don’t think I’ll do a survey, I might be disappointed.

    Hi Brenda
    Short and sweet.
    God Bless.

Great devotional Brenda – short, sweet, and so true!
Good to see your writing again.
    Blessings.

    Dear Brenda,
It was refreshing to read your joyful devotional.
Good to see you on the “Daily.”

Very good thoughts for us to ponder. I like your grandpa’s quote.
    Keep writing.
    Love and blessings.

    Amen! Brenda!!!
    Thanks for writing to us.
Is it not wonderful when a little “seed” of God’s Word sticks and grows.

Brenda: I smiled when I read the method you used to conclude your Devotional by quoting a truth so well put by your Grandpa.
Some sentences in Scripture are difficult to ‘digest’ and may even require a Bible scholar to explain. Thank you.

Thanks Brenda, love quote of your Grandpa. Blessings.

    Hi Brenda:
I really enjoyed your to-the-point meditation. Sometimes, a few words can preach a whole sermon and I feel that this meditation is one of those. I particularly enjoyed your Grandfather’s quote and plan to use it on my own grandchildren.
Thank you for such a direct and pleasant piece. I’m still smiling.
    God bless you.

    Dear Brenda,
Brief, but right on the truth.
I echo your prayer: “Lord, help me to be the kind of person whose very presence brings joy!” Christ brought the greatest joy to the most — and still does. “Only in Christ. Amen.” May we reflect his words and Spirit.
    Thank you.
    Keep writing.
