Anxious

Matthew 6:34 – Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (NASB)

"Mom, I am so looking forward to coming home for a week!" exclaimed my youngest daughter over the telephone.

Cindy, in her second year of university, was coming home during "Reading Week", always an anticipated pleasure! In reality though, she really, truly, honestly couldn't wait to see her boyfriend and not us. Time spent at home is the "telltale" sign.

The week quickly passed, and it was time to pack her clean laundry, extra food and baked items, along with her books and notes into the car and drive her back to the university. It was a time to resume old responsibilities, dig into the books, study, research and write term papers.

For us, the parent or parents, such times of sending our children off are times of being anxious. Worrying if they are eating properly. Worrying about them walking at night after late classes. Worrying about them worrying about their term papers. Worrying….

It is at just such a time, that we can turn to the One who offers to take our burdens, our worries, our cares and our anxieties. We can give them to the Lord.

Psalm 55:22 – Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. (NASB)

Prayer: Lord, we thank you that we can bring our worries and troubles to You. You are always there for us, listening, waiting, gently calling. Amen.
