Eggs For Life

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (KJV)

A farmer was experiencing a downturn in his business's production. Wanting to encourage an increase in the egg production in one of the hen houses, he decided to post an inspirational sign that read, "An egg a day keeps Colonel Sanders away."

Life lessons are important to all of us, but especially so for those who are graduating from high school this month. How do we keep a positive attitude when challenged by decisions that will impact our future?

Paul the Apostle, writing to the "joyful" Philippians, reminds them to choose to be "egg-cited" about life. Whatever life may bring our way, God's Word tells us to think on the "good sides of life."

What life lesson are we struggling through? What life test are we writing? Do we want an "A"? Let us choose our attitude to be that of Paul's: "whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Which will it be — a good attitude throughout life? It can be done!

Let's not be chicken and just "lay" around. Let's get "egg-cited" and live a productive life. It can happen! We don't have to be "cooped up" by the uncertainties of life's lessons. We can choose our attitude and respond like Paul!

Prayer: Lord, renew our attitudes by filling our minds with those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. In Jesus' name. Amen.
