Time With The King (1)

Listen to this devotional:

Jeremiah 29:11-13 – "For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." (NASB)

Don't you just hate it when you are in a hurry and all the traffic lights turn to red the moment you get to them?

It's one of those days. I'm in a great hurry; all the traffic lights, one after another, have turned red. I literally have to stop, don't I? Oops — potential road rage, or potential extra prayer time?

This day, I have a few dozen things to fit in. I arrive on time for the appointment with a professional person. I'm asked to take a seat and wait. I literally have to take a seat and wait, don't I? A time of stewing, or extra time seeking God?

I quickly want to do the business I have at the bank and the post office. There are queues at both. I literally have to stop and wait, don't I? Time to waste, or extra time to wait upon King Jesus?

A chorus from Isaiah 40:31 goes:

    They that wait upon the Lord
    Shall renew their strength;
    They shall mount up with wings as eagles.
    They shall run and not be weary,
    They shall walk and not faint.
    Teach me, Lord, teach me, Lord, to wait.

Yes! One of those blessed days.

Prayer: Thank You, our gracious Lord, for all the odd moments You give us in a day to spend with You in prayer, thanksgiving, and praise, as well as waiting upon You for Your words and answers to us as we seek to hear from You. As Your Word says, "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Thank You, Lord, that You are ever willing to help us use our time fruitfully. Amen and Amen.
