Love In Action

James 2:18 – But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

How do you witness to the love of God in Jesus Christ?. Words work, but often words remain only words. Actions are good, too. While a group of labouring youth went to work on the Gene MacLellan Centre, the new home for a ministry with ex-convicts in the Northern Nova Scotia town of New Glasgow, a couple of local teens from the surrounding area came over to look on and maybe make a little fun of the do-gooders hard at work. One smoked a cigarette to pass the time.

What do you do? Some of the leaders really wanted to know how to reach these other teens but really didn't know how.

Maybe the smiles on our kids' faces, the fun they were having doing something for others, the obvious joy they expressed in each other's company said more than many messages about God's love.

Love in action is still one of the wonderful ways of bringing others to an awareness of God with us.

Thanks be to God.

Prayer: Call your servant church into the heart of our society to touch, transform and make new, in and through the love of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
